That also means that you don't use it correct? Because if you use it, even without paying, you are still allowing them to earn revenue from you, and while you are not writing a check to them, you still provide them revenue and thereby support them plagiarizing authors. I am not making an accusation, I just want to make sure you understand that by using the platform you ARE contributing to the issue...if you use it, which I am not saying you do.
I have never used ChatGPT in my life.

Also, when you say plagiarizing authors, are you meaning everyone who "contributes" or specifically authors with materials under a real copyright?
When I say that ChatGPT plagarizes authors, I mean that they take other people's work that has been made available on the Internet, and then plagarize it by rewording it just enough to circumvent copyright laws.

I'm talking about works both with and without a formal copyright.

Theft from people without a formal copyright is not OK. Just because an author is a 'little guy' doesn't give Silicon Valley oligarchs like Scum Altman a right to steal that author's work and profit from the theft, and also add insult to injury by not crediting nor financially compensating the author.

If there were any justice, Scum Altman would be stripped of his billions, and a significant portion of it would go to everyone OpenAI has plagarized. In addition, Scum Altman should be in jail for the rest of his life for such unprecedented theft.

I would never pay OpenAI because that would be allowing them to profit by plagarizing authors who OpenAI neither credits nor financially compensates.

I hope you are not assuming other LLMs are clean of potential copyright violations.

BTW, the neural networks in your brain were formed in large part directly or indirectly by copyrighted material, just like ChatGPT and every other LLM.

I think we are on the same page :) just making sure you aren't trying to say that Reddit users are having their "work" plagiarized :p

OpenAI should have made their free version better, without loudly pointing out all the limits to push people into Plus tiers. If we all psychologically had already accepted that ChatGPT was totally free, then DeepSeek wouldn't have hurt OpenAI. OpenAI could have just subsidised all the energy and processor use to gain marketshare and consumer confidence now, with the view of transitioning the free tier to a more efficient model sometime in the future, behind the scenes. And still charge for API and intensive use.

This is going to age like "640K of RAM is good enough" or "No wireless. Less space than a nomad. Lame."

Pretty much. AI is coming whether you like it or not, and you can either get on the boat and see where it goes or get left behind.

Whatever you think of it i would suggest staying current and learning its capabilities because if you’re just going to just try and ignore it and complain - you’re going to find yourself far less employable within 5-10 years.

Fact: Some people didn't want to buy cars and said horses are better.
Fact: If you want to ask about Tiananmen Square, you already know what happened.
Fact: AI will do more good than bad and will lead to amazing breakthroughs in many areas.
Fact: Some people will quote this post and will disagree.

Fact or fiction? This post was made by an AI bot from yet undisclosed, much superior AI model from a country that 86% of people have never heard of.
