Hi - I haven't been on here for a while and I'm hoping that this is the right place to ask this question: I have a mid-2010 Mac Pro 5.1 with upgraded metal graphics card and I'm currently stuck at OS 10.14 and wish to use OpenCore Legacy Patcher to advance to a higher OS.
I don't actually need to go all the way to the latest version but need to be able to run the latest versions of Cubase and Logic.

Looking on the OCLP website I see that there may be a problem with USB 1.1 compatibility, i.e. my keyboard and mouse may not be recognised. Does anyone have an understanding of what I would need to do to go forward with the OCLP upgrade? Would I need a USB 1.1 PCI card, would that be all?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks, so that wouldn't be a PCI card, but an external desktop hub? And would it be mainly for plugging in keyboard and mouse? Interestingly, my system report lists a USB 2 Hub internally - see attachment. You're the expert and I'm certainly not, but I'm just showing it as it may mean something!

Yes, I've already wrote it and even linked the full explanation about why the hub is required since Big Sur, no need to confirm it.

Some non-powered USB 2.0/3.0 hubs do not work with Macs, I'd buy a powered one and test it with Mojave before trying BigSur and newer macOS releases.

All Macs have it for the Bluetooth controller and other things, like the camera, keyboard and touchpad with notebooks.

Thanks again, so a mains-powered USB2/ USB 3 hub would be the thing. The reason why I was wondering about the USB 2 hub listed on my system report is that I just remembered that a few years after buying my Mac Pro in 2011, I purchased a second-hand twin-processor board for it which may have been from a more recent computer, hence it might have the required hub built in and not need upgrading.

I'm not quite done here... you have recommended a powered USB2/3 hub but can that also be an internal PCIe card?
Thank you.
