Hi all I have an apple imac with leopard . I have the latest adobe reader installed . I went to look at my property tax assessment file . I entered my assessment # and pin # and got report . It downloaded as a pdf.html file . When I tried to open the report all i got was a page of garbage numbers letters symbols . The tax site said I needed safari and adobe reader to be able to view the report . Anyone have any ideas why it does not format in a readable page . My daughter has an apple with snow leopard and she gets the same result for her report

You could try removing the .html part of the file name and see if that opens correctly. Especially if some of the garbage looks like "%PDF-1.1"

It should either open the report in another browser window or tab, or it should download the .pdf to your Downloads folder.
It does download to my download folder no problem . Its when I double click to open it all the garbage appears . It Downloads as Report.pdf.html
I tried to save it as just report.pdf but it will not let me
Can you post a screenshot of what the "garbage" looks like.
Try changing the name after it downloads.

As I suspected, it seems to be a PDF file. If you get rid of the .html extension after it is downloaded and force it to load in Preview or Adobe Acrobat it should be fine.

Right click on the file -> Get Info -> Name and Extension.
B
- Select the file in Finder.
- Press enter/return
- Highlight anything to the right of .pdf
- Press delete
- Press enter/return
Thank you that worked . . No help from the assessment web site . I guess they saved it only for a windows computer . It opens fine on my son in laws pc
