Hi,
recently I wanted to clean my iMac Pro inside and remove some dust, so I found a guide online on ifixit and I opened the iMac, removing the LCD panel.
I didn't unscrew anything, just remove the LCD.
Unfortunately when I put the LCD back and re-connect the cables, the LCD is not working anymore. I thought maybe the LCD cable was broken so I ordered a new cable but it still doesn't work.

I am 100% sure the computer itself is still working, because I connected it using a Target Disk Mode and I can see the files inside.

My questions are:
- do you think Apple will at least try to fix my iMac Pro? Or they will refuse to fix it because I opened it?
- any advice?

Yes, but in that case they unscrewed everything. I don't think it's the same thing.
I just wanted to clean it, not unscrew, upgrade, repair etc.

They have already analyzed the cause: At that time (2018), there were no technician qualified to repair the iMac Pro, therefore all of the Apple Service Center LTT contacted refused to fix.

After 3 years, there may be more technician qualified to repair your iMac Pro now. But whether the Apple Care Center near you has one, it's still questionable.

My speculation: the Genius you contacted would refuse to repair your iMac Pro, or quote an exotic price comparing with buying a new CTO iMac 2020.

I think Apple is your best bet to ask. On this forum you will only get speculations, but in the end Apple will have to give you the definite answer.

My speculation?... Maybe they will repair it, but most likely not for free. You still have to ask Apple though.

I agree 100%. I would not expect them to repair it for free, after all the problem was caused by you. But if the Apple Store has someone qualified to do the work, then I think they would do it and charge a reasonable price.

Yes of course I don't expect to repair it for free. That's why I feel strange if they say "we refuse to try to repair it". I think they have the technicians where I will bring it.
 
if it was just to remove dust why didn't you take it to the Apple store in the first place? The cost would be minimal (maybe even free)

Apple Genius Bar: Your LCD is toasted, it's 600$ plus 300$ labour; And your logicboard is damaged, too. Replacing the logicboard will cost you another 2000$....
(Just a hoax, hope they'll charge you only a small amount...)
 
I'm very curious as to what actually happened. The way you describe it sounds like everything went smoothly in removing and replacing the display. I'm assuming if you watched the iFixit tutorial you were very careful/delicate while lifting the display and disconnecting the cables. I did this myself on my 2012 iMac to replace the HDD with an SSD.
 
As others have said. Be prepared to pay for it.

Yes I was super careful and I watched that tutorial carefully many times. That's why I feel incredible the LCD is not working anymore.
