Ive just downloaded an .emf document but I cant open it. What apps/software should I try please?

Use filext.com or similar to look up file types. "Extended (or Enhanced) Windows Metafile Format" can be opened by Microsoft programs if you have any – you could drag into Word then right-click and choose Save As Picture to convert to something more universal – PDF seems the best choice from Word.

That's Windows printer spool (cached job for a peripheral, usually a printer or scanner) file. It's a temporary file on Windows, I can't imagine you'd ever need it or want to open it on any operating system, let alone a Mac.

You could just request the file to be printed/scanned right from the source.

So I guess the question becomes: why is it you need this file exactly?

My brother has created a family tree and posted it online. Its the family tree that ive downloaded and its an .emf document. Perhaps I could save it on my windows laptop and then email it to myself?
