I have used OpenOffice for years on my MacBook Pro (2010, Yosemite). It recently failed and I downloaded newest version, 4.1 . However, the mail merge feature no longer works right and I cannot find any online advice that is recent. Since I can't find a current blog for Ooo, I was hoping there might be an Ooo user here than could help.

Otherwise, since I hate Word and I can't seem to get WordPerfect on my mac (without partitions), is there another office suite someone can recommend?

I really liked Ooo and would rather have new instructions for getting the mail merge to work.

Thanks.

Also... I have considered trying a Time Machine restore of ONLY the Ooo app, if possible. If that does not work well, I still have lost nothing. I guess.

I have just started using the Mac apps, might be worth giving 'Pages' a try. At least Apple should support it! :)

Here's an article on mail merge: http://www.macworld.com/article/2864355/how-to-create-mail-merge-documents-with-pages-and-numbers.html
I agree. Although I use Mac Office 2011 for my work, the iWork apps are a bargain and work well. They are free with a new Mac. (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote) Someone else mentioned LibreOffice which is another good alternative.
