$220 later on sale...

- Around 30% of the time only one of my airpods will pair, and I have to disconnect/reconnect them to my iPhone which results in 5min of bluetooth trying to find them and sometimes pairing
- Sometimes I have to do a complete hard reboot of my iPhone to get them working at all
- Trying to repair on a 2019 16" macbook pro (brand new) just fails half the time. Only one airpod was working? OK?, let's disconnect/forget. On reconnect, I get "Couldn't connect to the device" or "Connection Failed". Typical time to get them working again is prob 5-10min of f*ing around with disconnecting/turning bluetooth on and off/retrying pairing again, etc.

I'm honestly considering switching back to $15 wired earbuds.

If these were a $50-$100 device I wouldn't complain so much, but this is 100% apple ecosystem, custom apple H1 chip, and it still fails constantly.

I wish I could return them.

Obviously you have a defective pair. Contact Apple and get a new set. I have had ZERO problems with mine.

Why do you think it's obvious they are defective? Googling the issue it seems like thousands of other people that have run into them losing a connection or having only one side lose connection. I don't think this is a hardware failure - I think it is a fundamental system design failure.

if it was fundamental, everybody would have these issues.

it honestly sounds like you’ve got a defective product. the airpod pros aren’t perfect, but what you describe isn’t normal behaviour. just because it seems there are "thousands of other people" with the same issue, doesn’t mean it’s the norm. the vocal minority sometimes appears to be the majority when it’s really not.

just because it seems there are "thousands of other people" with the same issue, doesn’t mean it’s the norm. the vocal minority sometimes appears to be the majority when it’s really not.
And it has been mentioned in these forums countless of times that usually only people with problems share the issues while the vast majority just enjoy using the products instead of write about them. Hence, the over-representation of problematic cases.

p/s: And yes, my AirPods Pro works fine and never had much problem with them.

I think it is a fundamental system design failure.

As you said, that’s your “opinion”.

The fact of the matter is there are many more owners who don’t experience what you have & therefore flies in the face of it being a “fundamental system design failure”.

Googling the issue it seems like thousands of other people that have run into them losing a connection or having only one side lose connection.

Have you pulled the figure “thousands“ just to suit your “opinion”?

I’ve had the single pairing AirPod happen a number of times, but it’s not enough to write off the whole product. Pretty sure it only happens with the Right AirPod, when I don’t wait long enough before inserting the Left. Probably 2 in 20 times tops...nothing to overreact about.

I don't have Pro's but both of my AirPods (v1 & 2) have the issue with one AirPods not connecting intermittently. My AirPods 1's were exchanged once, and then I replaced both the case & the left AirPods, and still had the exact same issue. What solved it was taking a very small screwdriver and very slightly bending out one of the two brass colored connectors inside the case (there are 4 total, 2 for each AirPod). Since then, I haven't had any issues with them.

Aside from that issue, the AirPods have been great, and I can't imagine going back to regular headphones for running.

I own the Gen 2 with Wireless Charging Case and AirPod Pros. I'm not a fan of the Pros because they don't fit properly for me, but the Gens 2 work great and without issue. So I think the massive amount of people that buy them, without talking about how good they are. Must be good, because when I buy an Apple device, I expect it to work without issues. If someone asked me about them, I'd be honest yeah. But I'm not gonna post how something I purchased works the way its should lol.

Yup I agree they pretty much are garbage. I have version 1 and 2. Both have connection issues usually only one side works. I just purchased Bose Soundsports they work perfect.

I found my Pros since they came out and used them them multiple times per day. Have had an occasional frustration like one ear taking longer to pair, or occasional trouble connecting, but nothing that would make me consider them “garbage.”

If you are having repeated problems, try resetting them or call Apple and open a case. They will fix it.

I've had no issues with my previous Gen 2, and just recently picked up the Pro and no issues with those either. And I'm using it on all my Apple products that's on Beta software. Still no issues.

Sorry to hear of your issues. I have Airpod Pros and think they are amazing. I use them with a 16" Macbook pro, an iPhone 11 Pro and and 10.5" iPad pro. They work seamlessly with all 3 devices, I never have one pair and one not.

These have become my go-to headphones now. I have Bose QC 35 IIs as well and they just get used with the TV (as the remote control will do the headphone volume but for some reason it won't on the Airpod Pros)

I would get them replaced - your sound faulty.

I'm not sure that it's just my pair that is faulty. I just asked 3 other friends that have Airpod Pros and they all claim to have the same issues.

Of course they’re garbage. Anything that depends on a disposable non replaceable battery is disposable aka garbage. The headphone jack was killed for this very reason.
