I would get Sky Q if it didn't require having sky internet. I've had sky internet in the past and it's awful. I'd rather just have regular sky HD and virgin internet. If they ever make it compatible with non sky ISPs then I'd get it.
In regards to this post I think Apple TV and Sky Q are completely different products. Sky does have a lot of content that I watch. However I can't play games or download apps through my Sky HD box. I also can't airplay what's on the screen of my iPhone or iPad to my sky box, or listen to music. Also sometimes I prefer to just buy what I want from iTunes and watch it on the Apple TV. With Sky you are somewhat limited to what Sky are showing, with the Apple TV I can pick and choose what content to buy accordingly.

I used to have the old Sky hub for internet, it wasn't great. The new one has been very good, a lot thinner and apparently can cope with up to 50 connected devices. I have definitely noticed a faster connection between devices and the router.

Not sure of the spec change or where you can find this on the Sky website. Be good to know if someone can find it?

See my pics, the only issue is that the box now only has two ethernet cable inputs, where it used to have four.

P.S Excuse the mud from my dogs on these photos!

Yes it is. No date has been announced for when non-Sky Broadband customers can have Sky Q.
There is a difference between a requirement and a Marketing strategy. In their wisdom they have decided to prioritise customers who have Broadband with them. This does not make it a requirement.

It is currently not possible to order Sky Q unless you have Sky broadband. I'm not saying it is technically required. I'm saying if you want Sky Q now you can't have it unless you have Sky broadband.
