I have 2 and think they are amazing (sound). With the sales and the way Apple is intergrating into Alexia and maybe google home soon I think the bigger question will be around IF there is a new HomePod, not when sadly
Just wanted some opinions regarding this.
I’ve held out buying HomePod for far to long I think. I’ve always wanted a smart speaker and there’s no way I’m putting the Google Assitant or Alexa in my home.
My dream setup is to have two paired with my Apple TV.
I always have this crappy luck with investing in a generation to late and the next one either gets announced or released shortly after.
What would you honestly do?
Does the homepod play albums mp3, flac etc from a macoook air?
The apple site does not list this
And how does Mozart symphonies sound through the homepod?
His prague sym sounded weak when i listen thru a homepod at the apple store in eatly 2018
Thanks!
I as not impressed with the store because the Bose store and Marshall store had better results, but i will be open minded next visit rhereIt supports AirPlay, so I think it should function as an external player for any Apple device.
That said, in terms of in-person listening, while HomePods analyze their environments to best present sound, I feel like an Apple store is not going to be the best venue to hear one at its best based on surrounding acoustics.
Until you listen to one in your intended spot (in your house) you will not appreciate its true sound the Homepod can product. I am in love with mine. Mine are not setup in true stereo since they are in different rooms, but listening to them together will moving between both rooms the sound is bliss!!!
Can you use Siri voice control on the HomePod? Can it read my messages, make phone calls, or send messages, add events to my calendar.Same with Sonos.....the blind tests show there is no difference or Homepod underperforms.
For the price you paid for one Homepod...I was able to get two Sonos set up in stereo and have access to way more services (including Apple).
At this point, there would be no reason for someone to choose a Homepod over Sonos.

If you are doing that (while your phone is sitting right next to you)..then it is the right product for you.....for the other 99.999999% of people....it would be a poor product choice when there are MUCH better and cheaper options.
