I bought an eBay battery for my wife's 2006 MacBook Pro (Core 2 Duo).

It lasted a year, more or less, before a "service battery" notice came on. It still works (not very well ... held 3 hours of charge when new, now about 1.5).

However, it cost me $45 vs $120 (I think) for a battery from Apple.

Not sure if I'd say it's a winner or a loser ... judge for yourself.

so far, the best is to buy a second hand battery with low cycles count, like 60 or so. those are sold in ebay for 60$ too.

2006 batteries last much less, even the original one, so i think you got a good deal.

Dude. If you can afford a mac you can afford an OEM battery.

Gift, Craiglist, Ebay, Lost and Found, fell off a truck, etc. Obviously old if he needs a battery. I saw a great deal on a 2008 Black Macbook, $20. But could not AFFORD to invest in a new battery, $129, and a new top case ,$149.

So, you ask for opinions, you receive opinions, and then proceed to imply that anyone with an opinion that doesn't match yours is stupid.

Good to know. TYVM for the heads up.

IMHO, this thread should be locked.

I ended up buying an original battery, but from ebay. Price shipped was 33€. Price in an Apple store is 129€... It works perfectly, 5890mAh, 4 hours of real usage, just like the batery the laptop came with.
