I’m sorry, but I think you’re confused and should probably read the rest of the convo prior to trying to take my head off.

the poster I was replying to (which included the thread you quoted being the last reply) was bashing another poster who said he ended up with scratches etc and it had to be his handling that caused that, after the poster said that he babied it, didn’t travel anywhere, and it lived on his desk without being moved. The poster I replied to insisted it wasn’t possible for that to happen unless he manhandled it. My “intent” was to say that not everybody receives top quality machines and it’s possible for some to get great machines and other to have assembly line QA issues like a crappy paint job that ends up scratching or chipping easily

I’m neither for it against the midnight colour and didn’t comment on that - and truthfully don’t care what colour you get as long as it makes you happy.

You’re barking up the wrong tree…
You seem to have a very exaggerated view of what’s been going on. I certainly haven‘t been “bashing” anyone & never once claimed the laptop was “manhandled” in any of my posts. You’ve definitely drawn some sensationalized conclusions here.

The poster claiming he “babied” his laptop, means nothing in reality. The word itself, is subjective. We can draw whatever conclusion we want from that word. Was the laptop kept in bubble wrap in between uses? We have no clue. Assuming there will be no video evidence provided, it’s essentially just you, choosing to align yourself with someone who obviously has similar views to your own. I’ve never once said he intentionally did anything to the laptop. I was merely suggesting that maybe something happened without his knowledge. However, the possibility that a human being is capable of making a mistake, just isn’t reasonable to some.

I also find it interesting that you keep referencing QA as a root cause, when the poster you‘re referring to, never brought that up to begin with. Him saying he found the laptop easy to scratch, hardly constitutes an automatic QA issue. All the “assembly line crappy paint jobs” talk is heresay. Until there’s actual proof of that, it’s a red herring. Most of these cosmetic based issues usually boil down to the specific poster’s level of OCD, more than anything else.

I bought a base M2 MBA from BB on Wednesday for $1,049. I went with the silver color and could not be happier. Basically, I was feeling nostalgic for the classic MBA color scheme of old, plus it might wear a bit better than some of the other colors. That said, you really can not make a bad color choice. If you got midnight, enjoy it! It's a terrific color, and if it gets some smudges and scratches, so what! It just adds character to the machine.

All the colors are nice. We need a purple, electric blue and bright orange added to the mix. Lol

I understand that the Midnight Blue case is a fingerprint and scratch magnet.
"Scratch magnet" gives Vietnam flashbacks to the Slate color of the iPhone 5, original iPad mini, and 2012 iPod lineup.

Slate may look similar but is actually slightly less saturated than Midnight; see these photos I took back in July:

After going to the store and seeing midnight blue and starlight in person, I ordered the Starlight online. Just my personal preference, l like that regal champagne color.

Starlight was not on display at my local store. But the M2 Air is quite light. Almost seems like there is nothing inside.

Starlight owner for over a month and could not be more happy with the colour. Looks amazing everywhere I use it and take it. Have this case which fits it perfect and compliments the look of the starlight. So many compliments on the combination.

got the grey 13.3inch size

As a side note. I have my display set in system preference to "more space" "automatically adjust brightness" off "True Tone" off and colour profile set to "generic RBG profile" with brightness at 11 of 16 and it is heaven for me to work at.

It's the same color as the Starlight iPad if they have that available.

Wow, thanks. Didn't even know about that option and the 13" felt pretty cramped without it.

I have the Midnight Blue which is truly awesome. And yes it does all the things others have stated. I figured I was this deep already so I just got a clear case. I could not be happier. But that is me.

I got the Silver one. After having had three Space Grey laptops.
I'm liking the Silver color way more, it looks very sleek.

I have a little OCD with keeping my things clean, so the Midnight color is not meant for me.

after so many space grey EVERYTHING I decided silver for my MacBook Air m2 I gotta say it super clean

silver owners here, can you please post photos in different lighting conditions..

Do you have any pics of the Midnight in a clear case please?
