I know there was an update this past October, but I had a question about the next update. Do any of you guys think they may update the display at all? Many of the more portable Windows machines have such lovely displays, and I noticed that the iBook's is sort of lacking. It would be really great if they could bump up the quality and resolution on the next series. I need a laptop to complement my PM, but I dont need all the power that a PB provides. Also, do you guys maybe see a 64Mb video card option on the 12 inchers when they come out? Thanks.

I doubt Apple will change the displays on the iBooks until the next revision, and I feel that this iBook revision is a fair time away and after the long awaited PB update. Also i reckon the iBook will only get 64mb vram untill all the PB's are up to 128 or possibly 256 (i dream), otherwise it would be too competitive for the PB.

I would say awhile, because I think they'll update the PowerBooks before they update the iBooks. Especially since the PB 12" display is the same as the iBook display.

EDIT: damn gangst beat me by 1 minute!

Maybe PowerBook updates around the last week of January 2005 and PowerBook G5 at WWDC 2005 at 1.8GHz. 🙂

iBooks will see an update around ~April 2005. 🙂

Low end:

1.33Ghz

Top end:

1.47Ghz.

As far as GPU goes 64MB should sound about right. 🙂
