No! You wouldn't ever...

hehe I have every picture I've ever taken on my D70

Yes, I would but it's not my photo and my opinion can only be a thought to the original poster. :D

I generally make 3 passes through a shoot, whether it's paid or not, and a lot of things that aren't possible to fix easily are gone by the time I'm done. My decision making methods are harsher than many but I believe that only the best is worth doing.

Also, you can go in with photoshop and create that layer of clothes for the woman that seem to be so blown out (and problematic). It'll take a long time (read: it would take me a long time), but I think it'd be worth it.

Here's my take.

It's your photo, so I didn't go too wild. I just brought the highlights down a bit, and gave the photo a bit more of a film look.

I think that if I was in the same situation, I'd delete it. However, when I really give myself time to think about it, I think deleting it is a mistake, and overexposing the people even more actually sounds like an interesting idea......more interesting than fixing the exposure of the people.

The best thing about digital is being able to work on a pic after shooting... and the worst thing about digital is being able to work on a pic after shooting...

It can make us lazy, thinking "I can make it right later with PS". But even with digital there's every good reason to get exposure right(ish) in-camera... especially if you'd rather be 'out' with your camera rather than 'in' with your computer.

On the whole, I try to expose correctly for what I see sa the subject of a photo... and let the other values fall where they will...

I like Mike's take. I also like the OP's edit which has the lady removed.

I would NOT delete this photo, even unedited. I only delete complete disasters, and that is something that this photo is not.

The only other reason you should delete it is if you have a similar shot which is better exposed, which I imagine you don't.

There are many things to like about this photo which would prevent me from deleting it.

Thats my advice.

So I was just playing around with some shots I took last week and came across this one. After I got home last week, I went through my photos and rejected this one based on the fact that the people seem to be over exposed, despite personally liking the composition in this photo. But after looking at it more closely and doing the B&W conversion, it doesn't seem so bad.

What do you guys think about this photo? Should it be a keeper or is it crap? Do the overexposed people in this photo ruin the shot? Anything I can do to make it better? Thanks for the help!
