I’m a huge fan of the 70mm IMAX version of Oppenheimer (18K resolution!), which only 30 projectors in the world were able to project. Living near one, I went 3 times 😄

I'm a designer, so I live in the details, and the experience to me was incredible: the scale, the resolution, the film grain, the soundtrack and sound design, so immersive.

The last time I watched it I was kind of "sad" knowing that I will never experience the movie the same way again, as watching it on a TV will be very different, and that's when I had a funny thought about the Vision Pro.

I don't know the specs, but I guess the Vision Pro will play up to 8K videos, which is far from that 18K resolution, but I'm still curious to see how close it can get to what I've experienced in the theater 😁

I think that's incorrect. If I'm not mistaken, AVP uses two 4K displays (one per eye), so you'll probably "only" manage to watch a 4K movie, not an 8K one. In order for the incredible tiny display tech to develop into 1/4th of the size I think it'll take many, many more years. Who knows, maybe 15 or 20y.
On the positive side, on AVP you can set a video to seem as big as a 100 feet wide screen, which is bigger than an IMAX screen :p

Ah good point, and yes, maybe the 100 feet size will do (part of) the trick 😄

Hmm, it might be kind of interesting to zoom in on different parts of the movie screen and watch the pixels go by…
