This is very encouraging for 2020/2021 flagships!

Looking forward to this. Punch hole was heading in the right direction but still don't prefer it to no distraction of any kind.

yes...I think OPPO (and OPO) has done some really nice things. They are pushing a lot of tech forward.

Some wanted, some didn't care. My guess is the don't cares outweighs the some wanted.

Headphone jack isn't back yet, either.

    But who knows such things.

It's too much innovation to handle, just like the new Quick Path which is a fancier name for Swype Keyboard.

Apple definitely was playing catch up with many of their changes/additions in iOS 13. I’d say the privacy focused features were among the most significant.

As an iPad Pro user, I’m personally most excited about the changes in iPadOS.

I can see the iPadOS as a good move for Apple. BUt for me and my uses.....the iPad cannot replace my MBP. It doesn't come close. I had the 11 iPad Pro for a while and could get my workflows changed over to the IPP.

This just isn't the sort of tech that is going to originate with Apple. The big Chinese and Korean firms will develop and deploy it, and then Apple will buy screens from one of them.

How is Apple playing catch up with the privacy features? Seems they are the only company committed to user privacy, at least what is under their control.

Totally get that. There are still functions and tasks that are a better fit on MacOS or Windows so an iPad Pro isn’t an ideal fit for many people. I’m admittedly not using it for much heavy lifting but it works great for my typical daily computing. And I find it a much better tool for consumption so having a device that serves both my productivity and consumption needs is ideal for me.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear in my post. Privacy is the one area where I think they’re leading the way and NOT playing catch up, in contrast to many of the other changes in iOS 13.

Absolutely agreed. A lot of it was playing catch-up.

In terms of Privacy, Apple are truly taking it to levels I’m sure even Blackberry wished they could have. It’s very impressive what they did with Sign in with Apple, THAT was a little glimmer of the old Apple shining through there I have to say. Taking something that has always been around and adding a significant layer/ function to it, I feel as though Facebook and Google were taken by surprise by it.

The privacy focus is really appealing to me ever since I found myself haunted by the geriatric pressure sock after talking about my busted foot in an email with a friend in gmail. There’s other creepy weirdness like that I’m noticing more and more. It’s too late for me, my profile is out there never to be reclaimed again, but I’m no longer trying to pull the kids past the walled garden.

I wasn’t really too impressed with Apple’s lip service to privacy for the past year. But now if we see solid progress, I’m in.

Getting back to Oppo and Xiaomi, well done. Phones that don’t need a notch for dot projectors and the like need to get rid of notches and holes and tic tacs.

I really don't get why it took Apple that long to fix the obtrusive volume indicator.

It would be amazing to hear some sort of expose that showcases why Apple is so slow in certain areas when they only do one big release of phones a year

One day many years down the line we will probably get one.
