After being in the iPhone eco system for over a decade I felt I wanted a change and to see how far the other side have come. Through work I managed to have an S25 Ultra and OnePlus 13 on loan, both are fantastic devices but I started to see alot of noise on the Find N5 and it captured my interest. I'm in the UK so imported the global version from Hong Kong and they use the same plug system as us so it was nice to have an 80w UK plug in the box.

I absolutely love this phone, it's about the same thickness and weight as the 16 Pro Max I had but opens to an 8.2" screen, more screen real estate than an iPad Mini. The front screen feels like a normal phone so you don't have any compromises using it day to day.

The Gruber article that just dropped about something being rotten in Apple prompted me to write this as I have been thinking recently that the iPhone has got quite stale, it's still a great phone but it's starting to lack flagship features that the competition have.

Things I have really appreciated on the N5...

The 8 Elite chip is the first time in many years that the main SoC can now compete with Apple and it shows in the day to day usage, everything is lightning fast. The multi core and GPU are now faster than the A18 Pro and single core is only 15% slower. This is a game changer for flagship Android phones.
80w charging is insane and removes any charging anxiety, it can charge from 0 to 100% in around 45 mins, top ups of 15 mins are meaningful.
5600 mah battery is also fantastic and powers this device all day with no issues, gone are the day that Android is poor for battery, this is better than my 16 Pro Max.
The form factor is solid and feels extremely premium, in my pocket I forget it's a foldable.
Camera is good but not the best but that's the price you currently pay for a device this thin.
Both screens are top quality and 120Hz OLED, I love consuming content so reading and watching video are fantastic.
Almost a silly one but I like how Oppo have made their gallery app bi-directional with Google Photos, I was already backing up all my iPhone photos with Google so they immediately appeared in the Gallery app on this phone. If I take a photo on my iPad it appears on the phone still, I really like this.

I have an M4 Pro Mac Mini and love it so I was pleasantly surprised to see Oppo have a native Mac app so you can easily move files between your phone and Mac. You can also control you Mac remotely from anywhere in the world that really works. You even get a track pad on screen with all the Mac gestures.

I am only 10 days but so far have zero regrets, my Airpods Max also work really well with the phone and I am still using Apple Music on Android with them.

This phone really feels like a generational leap in technology but unfortunately is not available outside of Asia which is a pity.

Wow I could have written this myself. I, too, switched just last week from the iPhone (15 Pro Max) to the Oppo Find N5. I've had every flagship iPhone since the very first and many of the watches. I skipped the 16 Pro Max because, for the first time, the spec bump felt too small to matter. I agree with all of your points and actually wrote a similar review/feedback on Reddit here. I've found the camera to be better than the reviews say it is, though I will give the W to the iPhone for now in that department. I still do think there are software related things that can be done to improve it, but I'm very happy with it since I don't do pro mobile photography. My main issue from the beginning was that everyone I know uses iMessages (I'm in the US) and even with RCS, me switching to Android threatened to destroy a lot of group messages and everyone threw a hissy fit over turning green. I was able to figure out a solution that I won't go into here for that. So all is good now!

Do you care to share the solution or is it classified lol?

Excellent, it's such an incredible phone, I can't put it down. My life is on WhatsApp so I didn't have to worry about iMessage.

This resonated with me. I’ve got the 16pm and have upgraded every year to the new iPhone flagship, since iPhone 5.

Even though I’m not ready to switch, I know the iPhone is stale, boring and only offering a fraction of what Apple could and should be giving us.

@SpitUK , are you me? lol.

every reason you stated about switching to the N5 resonated with me cos its the exact same reasons.

i'd like to add on a few things.

Context : i commute about 90 mins everyday, to and fro from work and i got my Find N5 on the 23rd of Feb when it launched in my country.

1. i'm a huge manga reader and having Mihon on this and reading on it in tablet mode is killer.
2. Watching youtube, netflix, crunchyroll while in horizontal mode yields a larger image. it feels lighter in the hand too.
3. I have the original oppo magnetic case and its compatible with almost all my magsafe accessories except the moft magnetic wallet.
4. I appreciate that it even cloned the iOS control centre and dynamic island.
5. O connect works flawlessly for me. i'm able to transfer content between my two devices. im frankly quite surprised. This is the FIRST android device that has played so nicely with MacOS
6. Apps aren't as polished but it has gotten ALOT better on android.

This is the first android phone that i'll be hanging on to for a long time.....perhaps its time to main hand an android and use the iphone 16PM as an offhand (secondary) device.

I used to own the Find N3 and that was my favorite phone in years. The only reason I haven't switched from iPhone 16 Pro (which has been okay, but buggy) to the Find N5 is that I am way too deep in the ecosystem now and I kinda need the integration...but this new function they added to share files with the Mac might be worth a try.
Oppo has been doing some amazing things lately

oppo is quite popular in South East Asia. I'm in Singapore and oppo is like the second to apple. But im quite surprised that they haven't officially launched it in Europe so that you have to get it from China.

This is such a beautiful phone. I'm planning on upgrading from the Fold 5 this summer and I will give this some consideration depending on what the Fold 7 has to offer

I am going to be with Apple for my entire live (if I can)
Why are you going into the part of the forums dedicated to non Apple stuff, to go into a thread about a non Apple phone, to tell people you’re not going to use a non Apple phone? I mean you’re free to do whatever you want I just don’t understand the appeal 🤔

Perhaps, I’m wrong. But some users have no clue they are in the “Alternative to iOS” section… they click on the link in the main page which takes them here, unaware they made it to this part of the forum.

Edit… guess I was wrong lol.
