What’s the general thoughts on this device? The camera seems fantastic and spec sheet is nice. It’s rather expensive though.

amazing device and all round great at everything. depends where you buy if you import a global model it's about 200 cheaper from oppo themselves

Can you order directly from Oppo if in the U.S.? Only other option is from sites such as wonda mobile or avg dad tech, etc. Reputable companies just not really happy about spending $1200 for this phone. That's iPhone money.

*Edit, just ordered the titanium charcoal from Wondamobile, was cheaper vs. Avgdadtech. Apparently they have much better customer support? Can't wait to use this bad boy, will sell my Fold if I keep it.

While the specs are great for this phone. It is blatant iPhone copy. Even down to the camera and actions buttons and their placements. But the snap-on lens from Hasselblad looks interesting

I saw a YouTube video on the camera snap-on. It does amazing on stills and portraits.
It really does.

I’ve never had a Chinese phone. I think they are banned in the US? I’m seriously considering this, it looks like a solid phone but I wonder what the support will be like in the UK.

It looks nice but agree with jamezr, it’s an iPhone rip off and that’s what really puts me off it.
I just don’t understand why a phone with such good hardware, specs and camera then has to try and be an iPhone clone. It would really cheapen the experience for me as it would probably make me wish I was just using an iPhone instead.

I’d still be tempted to give one a go, though. Camera looks intriguing.

I would give it a try if it was offered through my cell carrier here in the US. It really seems to be a beast of a phone!

it's about time apple adopted silicon batteries. seriously. less than 4000 mah in a phone where the competitors managed to put nearly twice as much . this voluntary prevention of extreme changes, to artificially limit advancements and keep them spread out across the year , is sickening

I think there are some regulatory issues in the US (battery size, degradation) and safety concerns that have prevent companies that sell prominently in the US from adopting them yet. IIRC, it's only the Chinese OEMs that have used them with any significance so far and I don't think their uses are as regulated there.

I see. i'm aware of the 100wh limit in planes, but other than that idk what regulartions there are

They’re also seems to be some downsides, including misleading mAh to battery life conversion.
IE: the phone with a massive 7500 mAh silicon carbide battery in actual battery life tests, only lasting 5 minutes longer than the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
If cranking the mAh up a full 50% only leads to an extra five minutes over the iPhone, it makes a lot more sense why that tech hasn’t made it over here yet.

Initial battery comparisons on the X9 Pro are just a *tad* more than 5 minutes better than the iPhone 17PM. Insane if these videos are accurate.

The Xiaomi 17PM has the new SD Elite while Oppo has Dimensity 9500.

I’ve seen comments that the silicon batteries deteriorate/lose health a lot quicker so I suspect that’s why Apple and Samsung haven’t been in a rush to adopt them at this stage.

Ehh...doesn't really bother me to the point of putting me off. Floss just reviewed the Vivo X300 and it also blatantly copies iOS. I tend to agree with his take on it. I'm not Tim Apple and don't lose money from copycats. I'm a consumer, if the product and design suit me then I'll buy it.

That’s cool but I don’t think I’d be able to get past it. To me, the OS looks like a Temu iPhone.

Received the phone today, global version. Wondamobile sent an incorrect US power adapter that won't connect to the charger, so I'll need to buy a US - HK adapter if I want to use the Oppo fast charger, no biggie. Charger included in the box along with cable and a case. Film screen protector is pre-applied as well.

Was a pain to set up e-sim with T-Mobile. Long story short, it only works Android to Android for me for now. Needed to transfer the e-sim from iPhone to Fold 7 and then to X9P. Once done everything is up and running flawlessly.

Wi-Fi calling works out of the box and has the toggle to prefer wifi which is huge. Haptics are fantastic, stronger than the Fold and iPhone for sure. ColorOS has its own version of the edge panel. I added AI summarize to the panel and it works with any web browser unlike Samsung. This is such a nice feature to have baked into the OS. Love having actual colored app icons as notifications on the lock screen. Not sure OxygenOS has this.

Have not scratched the surface with this phone yet but initial impression is superb. Honestly feels very much like a OnePlus phone which is a good thing.

I agree on all of the above. It’s an incredible phone and the battery is very incredible.

There’s a couple of small things:

- when you connect the charger, it doesn’t tell you how long is left until charged
- in the UK there’s no lock screen widgets yet, these are coming according to an OPPO blog
- I can’t find a way to automatically toggle pictures of my children on the lock screen like I can with my iPhone.
- there’s no case options in the UK at the moment, not even from OPPO until the 14th
- I’d prefer more folder/widget customisation like OneUI such as being able to make widgets transparent and stackable
- I’d like more lock screen customisation, again, like OneUI
- Seems to be zero benefit of having an OPPO account

These are tiny niggles, but other than that, it’s an excellent phone.
