Hi, I have a website coded up for iPad use and it contains a drop-down list which utilises the optgroup html tag. Everything worked fine up until a little while ago but now something weird is happening.

I'm not sure if it's iOS6 or not but suddenly if you try select an option in a drop-down list with an optgroup tag in it, Safari crashes and returns you to the iPad homescreen. I've tried it on four iPad 2's and they've all done the same. Anyone any thoughts on this?

This isn't a case of optgroup being unsupported. This is a Mobile Safari bug, instead. Doing a search on WebKit's bug tracker finds nothing, so perhaps this needs to be reported.

Mosey on over to https://bugs.webkit.org/ to report bugs in WebKit, the engine that powers Safari, MobileSafari, and Chrome.

    Noticed the same issue

I ran into the same issue and reported it to Apple before I found this thread and wrote it up on stackoverflow in case other folks run into it with examples of how it's failing and a possible workaround.
