My MBP's optic drive stopped registering. Couldn't even see it in the hardware list, and couldn't get my damn CD out of the drive 🙂
So, I was calling Apple support to get a box to send it in, and he went through the list of possible fixes... all which I had tried.
Last but not least, he told me to try something a little crazy. Put my finger between the comma and the period key, and press down nice and hard. I heard a snap, booted up the machine, and the drive registered 😀
Quite a hack of a fix, but I'm happy now. Crazy.
