Is it true that OIS is only being used in dark photos and not in video? Been reading this lately but couldn't find info on it. A just recently released video of a very reliable tech YouTuber said the same thing and I've been wondering why the news hasn't spread. Here is the link http://youtu.be/qcCUSvj6oGE

Never looked into it, but very much doubt it, as image stabilisation assists against movement/shake when taking pictures/video. OIS will be used all be time.

The OIS is not used for video. It only really makes a difference in dark environments. Although some argue that the end result compared to the iPhone 6 is negligible.

What's the point of OIS if it's not used In video?

It's used in low light situations where it'll make the most difference when taking photos. Apple obviously feel the digital image stabilization is more suited for video shooting. Whether that boils down to it being more sophisticated or satisfactory than what they currently can implement with OIS, is really up for discussion.

Or, one could simply argue it's something they're holding back for their future phones.

It should be used in the video. In fact the iP6 announcement showed it off at the keynote. They talked about how smooth the video was be of it on the 6Plus. They showed footage of some kids using it while skateboarding or something.

Both the iPhone 6 and the Plus have image stabilizer for video, but only the Plus has it for still photographs.

That's Cinematic Video Stabilization, not OIS. Both the 6 and the 6+ use the same Cinematic Video Stabilization technology, which is much improved over the digital video stabilization found in the 5s.
