Optical vs Laser?

Is there a difference? Because my mighty mouse has been jumpy on the coating of my desk (terrible inconvenience that has required me to take construction paper as my mousepad..). because i've been meaning to purchase logitech's keyboard mouse combo that has 1000DPI for the mouse.

difference is how good the camra is in the mouse. the laser mice have a much high resolution on the camra taking pictures of the desk. So finer things can be pick up to tell if there is movement of the mouses

Yeah there's a huge difference. I thought my Apple Optical Bluetooth mouse was great, until I tried the MX1000. I don't think I could ever buy anything optical again.
