Optical zoom and digital zoom?

which format are you looking at?

digital 8 or Mini DV? Digital 8 camera's have bigger bodies, which means more zoom. $300 USD for a Sony Digital8 with 20x optical zoom as compared to Sony's Mini DV which have 10x or 12x zooms and cost much more.
