I got the M1 Max and use it at work so it rarely falls below 90% battery (use it for a few hours at night after work or in morning on battery). Was getting concerned since it was always at 100%, but after ~ 3 weeks looks like optimized battery charging finally kicked in.

What's interesting is it was at 95% when I plugged it in at work this morning, and it actually drained the battery down to 80% while plugged in. Interested to see if it will just keep it at 80% from now on or if it will start charging it before I leave...

Thanks for posting. I was wondering how long it would take before the optimize wicked in.

Wish it would kick in on my iPhone, but nice to see it works on the mac. To people waiting, why not use AlDente?

My M1 14" Macbook Pro shows the Power icon until the battery drops to around 80% and then seems to charge. Is this a consequence of optimized charging?

Is this with MagSafe or usb c?

I see. Thanks. I've always been using my MBP 16 at work with it unplugged since most of the time the battery would last me the day. Then when I get home I would charge it overnight and use off battery again the next day, etc. Sometimes at night when I'm using it at home and I have it plugged in, I do see that it stops charging at a certain point.

Now I've decided to use my MBP at work with the adapter plugged in so I can use the battery optimization function, but not sure if it works with the MagSafe or not. Granted I just started yesterday so might need a while to re-learn the patterns.

It hasn't kicked in on my 14" yet, it's been more than a month. It's used like a desktop 99% of the time.

Mine kicked in within a week. My 16" MBP was delivered with 3 cycles on launch day, and now sits at 4 cycles, 2 months later! It's connected to my display 99.999999% of the time.
