THus far I disabled dashboard on my 350mhz Sawtooth. Any other ideas?
1) always keep at least 15% of total boot drive empty for VM
2) remove unneeded start-up apps
3) clear caches regularly
5) fast HDD (SATA/10k Raptors or 7200prm/16mb cache)
6) better video card, but only if you watch movies, play games, or do anything that involves 3D apps
If you are limited on RAM (read under 1GB) then disable Dashboard aswell otherwise it will kill it.
How do you disable dashboard?
It does kill my 1gb limited mac mini 1.5ghz. I'm beachballing a lot.

Also, for the general question of Tiger on resource-limited computers, this is a great thread:
There's a way to do it through terminal but it's not really necessary. It won't be active until you try opening it so the best way to disable it is to just not open it.
After a clean restart it will be closed. If you disable the F12 keyboard shortcut, get rid of any hot-corners you might have for it, and remove the dock icon it should be pretty difficult for you to open it by accident.
