Optimizing Windows was a way that you could tweak the settings and speed up your operating system. Are there any tips/tricks a newbie should know about OSX?
- Just make sure you have enough HD space available (depends on what you do with your Mac, but having > 2 GB HD free space left over is pretty much minimal)
- Do a regular disk permissions check / repair of your boot volume (in /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility), i.e. once a month or after a system update etc.
- Try to do a "Verify Disk" regularly too (in the same app)
- Try out apps like Onyx to help you clean caches, do maintenance scripts etc.
- Make sure not too much icons are scattered over the desktop aswell.
