I'm finishing a database management course, and next year's students are asking me if there is in an installation for OS X 10.4 or 10.5, NOT X Serve: They want to avoid running it virtually either in Windows or a Linux distribution.

The Oracle website only lists an installation for X Serve; is it safe to assume that they're just S.O.L. and will have to run it virtually?

An Xserve is just hardware. I assume that Oracle have just tested it on that spec and said it works. If it works on an Xserve it should run any Mac running Mac OS X Server, not sure about the client edition though.

Sorry, I should clarify: it will be run on a Macbook / Macbook Pro, so OS X Server is out...
