Does anyone know anything about the orange dot in the right hand corner of my iPhone? I had seen that it’s to alert you if your microphone is being used. Everytime I make a phone call it appears even after I’ve turned my microphone off for every app. If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it. Thanks

It means the microphone is being used. It is Apple's way of alerting you when it is being used by an app.
Hey Thanks for the reply, my question is do all iPhones with this feature have an orange dot at the top? I shut my microphone off in for all apps but it continues. I’m pretty sure Someone is sending me malware cause I’ll get crazy weird messages texted to me. I appreciate any information you might have. I constantly have trouble with making calls, hearing a clicking, strange voices in the back ground while I’m on a call. Phone gets hot etc. I’ve done the resets but it persists. Thanks again!

All iPhones that have been updated to iOS 14 have the same feature. No one is sending you malware.

(Make sure you do a backup first) It sounds like you need to go to settings erase all content and then reinstall the OS and set up as new. That may solve your problems.

You kind of need to use the microphone during a phone call.

How are you sure on the malware issue? Is it normal for an iPhone to get extremely hot to the touch? Im not into coding or issues like this, I’m have been dealing with an issue for quite some time in which calls drop, clicking when I’m on a call.hear conversations in the back ground. Other people who call me comment about it. I get a ton of spam messages texted to me from numbers I have no relation. When looking into this these I see warnings that malware coded messages could be the culprit. I understand in this digital world we have given up some privacy but I’ve had a lot of issues for quite some time. I reset my phone then it starts acting up again In a short time. Thanks

That’s pretty obvious so then why turn it orange to alert you when you obviously are using it in the call. After all it’s a privacy/security feature from my understanding.

Because any time the microphone is accessed it displays the dot. There should be no exclusion to that rule.
