OKay this might seam a bit weird or what but here goes. I was on the bus on my way home and with the light of the sun reflecting of the touch I could see an orange dot "inside" (Or under the glass layer) near the top part of the touch. I was just wondering if it was intentional or what not. Also if anyone wants to look for them selfs just shine a light on the top black trim. It's near the left right in the middle.

That's the light sensor for the Auto-Brightness setting. If it's dark the screen doesn't need to be as bright so it will turn the brightness down and visa versa.

Most, if not all, cases for the Touch have a hole at that location. It initially seems to be for no purpose but it is because of the light sensor there. That said, however, if you hold your hand over that area and then move your hand and shine a flashlight there it doesn't seem to have any affect. It could be that it's an IR sensor affected by sunlight but not a flashlight.

Apparently there's a second sensor somewhere near the home button, I'm yet to be able to find where it is but I guess that answers how covering the one at the top of the screen has no effect.
