Having a bit of a nightmare so any suggestions welcome (and yes I have searched)

Orange sent through a sim update last night and now I can't access my SMS. When I click the SMS button it goes to the SMS page waits a second then comes home again.

Any suggestion how to get around this?

I'm using 1.1.2, jailbreak on the UK Orange network with a Nextsim clone. I'm presuming the sim clone is the problem and in some way stopping the update working on the card, but short of removing the clone (£50 down the drain)placing the sim on my old phone getting the update I can't find a way to get around it...

Quick update in case someone else has the same trouble...

Since no one came up with any ideas how to get around this I've just had to start again, restore, jailbreak etc. which has obviously lost the my old texts but therefore resolved the problem.

It was a bit of a pain getting the NextSim unstuck from the Orange sim, but I remembered the old trick of warming to release the glue. 10 minutes under the hand dryer at work and the corners were starting to lift and another 10 minutes gentle sliding with a sharp knife and the NextSim came off.

Wish they wouldn't update the bl00dy sim

This isn't anything to do with having a NEXTsim or StealthSIM. It has already happened to me twice in the last 2 weeks, once when I still had the StealthSIM in with my Orange UK sim card and once after I had fully unlocked the phone using Ziphone.

There are 2 easier ways around this problem:

    1. Go into Settings - General - Reset - Erase all contents and settings. [DO NOT back up your iPhone using iTunes first as otherwise you will just get the rogue SMS put back on your iPhone during backup.] Then after erasing all contents and settings, connect to iTunes, choose to backup from copy of "your iPhone name". You will end up with a working iPhone again, rogue Orange SMS update text deleted.

    2. The other way is to install the SMSD app and delete it through that when it arrives without opening it. This app allows you to delete individual texts, whereas the Apple SMS app does not. I haven't tested this particular method as yet, but apparently it should work.

Orange are a darn nuisance with their sim updates! They usually arrive on my phone at 3 a.m. and wake me up. Anyone know what the hell they are actually for? What use do they serve? Any chance of getting Orange to stop sending them? It appears that only Orange send them.

Hope this helps anyone else who has the same problem.
