I placed a pre-order for a 64Gb iPad with 3G on April 11th. I got an email the next day saying it had been cancelled because they don't ship to international addresses or freight forwarders. Literally it said this:

I called 1-800-MYAPPLE to tell them that the shipping address was an apartment building in Miami and I had been living there for 10 years. In addition I reminded them that I have shipped Apple products to my home in the past. The rep said it was an error and placed a new order on April 13th with a note explaining that the address was a private residence.

Today I logged on to see if the shipping had changed to priority as it has with others, and I see it is showing as cancelled again!

    What should I do?

I have a feeling there may be some bastard doing freight forwarding who lives in my building. Either way I can't get a pre-order placed!!!

I did call them after the first one got cancelled. I tried calling again tonight but customer service is closed and the sales people said they can't help.

The second order which replaced the first one which was automatically cancelled, was placed over the phone. That one got cancelled too!

There's your problem. When the last English speaker left town Apple reclassified Miami.

Don't get me going on that. I get really angry about the lack of English speakers in Miami - it's a major issue. That said the quality of the education in Florida is so poor even the native English speakers aren't entirely comprehensible.

It's great to see that xenophobia and intolerance have finally made their way to MacRumors Forums!

Hilarious. But can you guys help me? Let's get this thread back on topic. Apple thinks my address is either a freight forwarder, FPO, APO or PO Box. The rep on the phone doesn't know how to fix that and the system automatically cancels orders whether placed online or via phone rep.

Has anyone had this issue before?

It doesn't make sense, the email says you have one week to contact them or they'll cancel your order, but you also say they canceled your order without waiting a week. With the way it's been selling, every day counts, I'd be annoyed and try to get my original April 11th order date reinstated. If the rep on the phone doesn't know hot to fix that, ask for the rep-on-the-phone's boss. Usually if you work your way up the chain of bosses in a company you get results eventually (it's the eventually that's annoying).

I don't know what's going on with Apple but every time i order online with them they send it to a wrong address, my last purchase was an iPad that has a different city/street name and wrong zip code even though i gave them the correct address.

Why don't you just walk into a store and buy one when they are released?

Yeah I am going to push for that. It's crazy the email says I have a week to resolve it but the account status on the website says cancelled.

These guys really should get their act in order.

I anticipate they will be in short supply and sell out. Plus I don't like waiting in line - just not a good use of time.

Don't you have a friend who's house you can ship it to? If it was me, I wouldn't dare try to do the whole "customer service" debacle and just have it sent to a friend's house and pick it up there.

Customer service rep told me same thing. She said it would be slow to fix their database and given iPad 3g timing I am better off delivering to a different address.

there will be plenty. i thought the same thing on the wifi launch. these are more expensive too, plus the launch got delayed worldwide to make sure there will be plenty. so your good, just relax and hit up your nearest apple store around noon, the line should be short by then.

Maybe the Apple ordering system thinks that Miami is now part of Cuba?

Interesting.... I'm also thinking the address is coded as 'bad' somehow. I vote for 'ship to friend's house' as quickest answer, since until the database is corrected, you can't use it for anything Apple (I bet).

That could be a problem because the billing address for his CC will be different. Some online retailers cross check the shipping and billing addresses to avoid scammers.Don't know if Apple does, but they do seem to be being very particular about addresses overall.

Still might be worth a shot, though.

They have obviously never been to Miami. ;)
