Just out of curiosity what happens if you order a series 5 watch today and a new one is announced on the 15th. Would Apple ship the series 5 or 6. Thinking or ordering an aluminum 5 with the sports band to see what happens. I can always return it, just curious if anyone has done this in the past.

You will get the series 5 that you ordered. There won’t automatically upgrade up to the new watch.
I'm guessing you will get what you ordered. Can you be bothered with the rigmorole of returning though?
Don’t waste your time or Apple’s doing this. You won’t get the series 6 if you order now. Wait until Tuesday and then make an informed decision.

I have no idea what will lead you to believe that Apple would ship a Series 6. They are a company that has logistics down to a stat, and there’s really no way they could even make that mistake, given they both have different SKU numbers.
Apple will NEVER automatically upgrade your purchase to a new model, they simply don't do that and have plenty of stock of the Series 5 to fulfill your order. If you want the Series 6 you'll need to order the Series 6... please don't buy a Series 5 knowing you will return it for sure, that's wasteful of resources.
