Ordered/bought an M1 MBA/MBP? What system are you coming from?

From a 2018 iPad Pro.

I bought this when they first came out with the full-screen redesign, and it replaced my 12-inch MacBook. I loved the iPad and was impressed with how much functionality it gained with the introduction of iPad OS and the Magic Keyboard, but in the end I am much more productive with traditional windows and file management, and a larger, fixed keyboard/trackpad.

The M1 Air is spectacular and I haven't missed the iPad for a second, even though I never had an issue with it when I was using it as my main device for two years.

Been using iPad Pro as my main computer since they first came out and have owned every generation. Until yesterday when I sent my 12.9" 2020 iPad Pro to it's Swappa buyer. M1 Macbook Air base model will be here tomorrow.

Back in March I upgraded from a 2017 MacBook Pro 13 to a 2019 16 MacBook Pro because I needed discrete graphics.

Ordered my new 2020 MacBook Pro 13 BTO last Tuesday, and I hope to get it before the end of the year.

What specs did you go with?

2014 MBA to 2020 M1 MBP

I purchased a 13" MBP back in August, but returned it due to excessive heating doing even relatively simple tasks (literally couldn't sit with it on my lap at times). This M1 has almost NEVER gotten warm. I think the fan kicked on once when I was syncing a lot of backup files to the new system. It's been dead silent and cool ever since. Amazing.

I want to transfer/copy my iTunes library from my iMac.

What would you say was the fastest/easiest way to do this?

I'm replacing my 2015 Mac Mini with a M1 Mac Mini 16GB 512GB. Can't wait!

I'm coming from a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro, which I think was the very last design with user upgradeable RAM and hard drives. It's served me well as I upgraded to 16 GB of RAM and a 500 GB hard drive. I don't run a lot of CPU intensive programs, so the older processor hasn't been a large hindrance.

What drew me to the M1 MBA was the fact that I couldn't upgrade MACOS on my old computer (and wanted to get on Big Sur), and wanted to dip my toes into the Apple Silicon waters.

So far, I've been extremely happy with my base model MBA.

I also look forward to experiencing the latest version of MacOS again. Haven’t been able to update for a few years, as my iMac is so old.

Have also been holding out for Apple silicon.

2013 Retina pro i7 with 16g ram and a 512 ssd. Times have changed. I'm good with a base M1 Air even with the graphic intensive workload I have.

I’ve almost pushed the button on numerous occasions, but just never bothered. However, these new M1 Macs look solid.

I upgraded from a MBP 2017 i5 dual core (That was the higher end with 4 USB ports) I got the MBP, it's far snapier, battery is out of this world, Web Cam is much better, apart from that (this maybe a bit quirky ) but I use more than one language to type, the FN button can now change language with one click, only Apple would think of something like that, makes my workflow a much better & quicker experience 👍😁

I'll be getting an M1 MBA or MBP (probably the latter) to replace my late 2013 MBP - the best computer I've ever owned, but starting to show it's age when presented with any kind of heavy workload.

You will definitely not be disappointed with the MBP M1, it's much better value than the AIR in my opinion and experience

Upgrade from 2012 iMac 27". The Fusion drive dead suddenly so I have to change my computer. Got a M1 Mac mini with 16 GB RAM. Works great but just realised the Bluetooth issue on the Mac mini is worse than I though. need to clean up my desk a bit for a place the BT can work better

I got my Pro M1 48 hours ago, coming from a 2020 MacBook Air i5 model, which was gifted to the babe 😛

This machine is absolutely amazing.

Ha. I did the exact same thing. Zoom calls and simultaneous VMWare Horizon brought my 2020 i5 256 16 MBA to its knees... hoping the M1MBP can solve that issue
