Ordered Late 2015 27 Retina iMac Thread

I used debit too. 🙂 To be honest I don't know why they volunteered it. Just said I needed it quick and they got it moving quick. I placed the order on the phone rather then the website. I don't know if that made the difference.

Customer support answered very quickly. I was only on hold for a few seconds.

We have a 2014 iMac 5K in the house right now. It is second only to the new Apple 5K iMac. You are going to be blown away how awesome the display is on your new iMac. 😀

Finally my late 27" 5k iMac will be delivered on friday!
It's the second base model (i5 -3.2GHz, R9 M390, 1TB fusion, 8GB ram (+16GB Kingston)), not the ultimate spec but for 1300€ it's OK 😀

It will be my first Mac OSX device next to my iPhone 6 and 6s (work and private).

Why didn't you go for the i7?
 
Just a reminder that most credit cards double the manufacturers warranty to two years whereas debit cards rarely have this added purchase protection. Check your credit card for benefits and use it when you can.

That is very interesting. I had not realized that this was the case. That is good to know.

After my experience with the debit card and based on this new information I'll use my credit card to purchase the machine and hopefully the bank won't give me problems trying to pay the card off in one payment. This will more then likely be years unless Apple really blows me away in the next few State of the Mac events they have.
 
Carrying a credit card balance is a horrific way to purchase something. If you actually calculate the cost over just a year or two, you'll be adding hundreds to the purchase price. Fortunately, you can always pay off the balance at any time and just use the card for convenience -- and the benefits. If you call the number on the back of the card, they should be able to give you information about extended warranties and other protections (liker rental car insurance)

Please go back and read my last post.

I'm not saying carry a balance. I'm saying I would buy it with the card and pay the balance. Since the bank might be a pain is setup two payments before the 30 days passes.
 
I ordered this on 1/16 :

  • 8GB 1867MHz DDR3L (2x4GB)
  • 256GB Flash Storage
  • AMD Radeon R9 M390 w/2GB
It sat in Processing Order for a few days before changing to Preparing for Shipment last night (1/20) but it has not updated to Shipped since. Not sure why the iMac order is taking so long.

But ordered mine on the 15th... Arrived today.

No, you can make payments multiple times in a month without a problem. For the warranty benefit though, the entire purchase has to be on one card.

I decided to get 27 inch iMac 5k Model MK472LL/A, this is the 3.2Ghz i5 model with 8gb DDR3 Ram and 1TB Fusion.

Only reason I opted for this is because I got it on sale at BestBuy and was able to use a 10% coupon. I would have loved a i7, but i5 should suffice. Plus this was in December, had a offer from a credit card that will return back 22% of the purchase price.

I already bought 16GB ram and hoping that will do the trick to make this a beast. I am new to video editing, etc., main reason for buying iMac 27" 5k.

I'm enjoying mine. It is amazing how such a powerful machine is housed in the monitor. The lack of cables is new for me. This is my first all in one desktop. I'm nothing short of amazed with how awesome it is.
 
I took possession of a new fully loaded 5K last week. I'm a bit miffed with the machine. When I first booted it up I got everything set up and it seemed fine. However, I quickly started noticing issues. For example, home sharing just wouldn't work at all. None of my devices could see the machine. Then I tried to turn on File Vault, and it kept giving an error message repeatedly. Various things kept happening, so I tried to wipe the machine and reinstall. When I did that, I got the attached screen. I spent most of today messing with it, and I think I got it working finally. I am not happy about having this many issues with a $4k machine. Anything else, and I am going to return it to Apple.

It stinks that yours is giving you so many problems. Have you tried a restore with command r yet?
