I ordered a MBP that will be here Tuesday but I sold my Powerbook today and am going to be shipping it out tomorrow. I have a lot of stuff on the computer that I want but also a lot of stuff that I don't want. I would use something like Carbon Copy Cloner but I don't want to do a full restore of my Powerbook hardrive on the MBP because I want to pick and choose what I want and dont want.

Will Time Machine be sufficient for this?
If I back up my computer right now with Time Machine on an external firewire drive will I be able to go into Time Machine on the new computer and drag/choose what I want to restore to the computer?

Is there a better way to do this?

Just do a Carbon Copy Clone to the external, and then use the Migration Assistant on the new machine to import you account and data.
