The day arrived last night when I placed the order for my first ever Mac on Apple.com! :D

Soooo excited right now, I can hardly contain my happiness!
A nice new 3.06 24 incher will be arriving sometime next week. :D

Thanks for all the advice you guys post here every day, it's really helped me learn important tips and concerns about using a Mac.

woot! :apple:

Also, I picked up a lot of software (Office 2008, VMWare, Photoshop CS3, much more) for very cheap (;)) and got myself an AirPort Extreme off of eBay. :p

Nice! Welcome to the club. Getting a new Mac is such a great feeling, you'll want to experience it again...and again....and again...and again....

Welcome to the new world. :)

Be sure to leave enough money aside for extras. Apple products tend to multiply quickly. ;)

Great! You'll love your new Mac. :D

I know, I can't wait! :D

Congrats in advance. Have fun! :)

Thanks. :)

What U gonna do with Mac Office - have heard its nice

My school's still equiped with Windows 2000, so go figure, I still need it for the essential Office files, although Keynote is freicking awesome compared to Powerpoint.

If I had that kind of capital, I'm sure I could experience it that many times! :D ;)

I've bought an AirPort Extreme, a 500 GB external drive for a ridiculous price ($99.00) for now, I think I'll hang onto a bit to buy that 2 extra gig of RAM I'd like to get. :D

Congrts on the purchase.... 3.06 ghz ... sheez:)

:) Haha thanks a lot, I bet you in 2 years we'll be looking at 4-5 Ghz ones. :) :apple:

I just ordered mine yesterday, same configuration. Thought I'd chime in incase we need to co-obsess over delivery times/ tracking.

Mine still hasn't shipped

Congrats on your new purchase....I just got mine last Friday a 24" 3.06 4 GB of ram500 HDD and I love it ...It took 10 days from the time I ordered it till It came and that was over 1 weekend...Good luck you`ll love it

I know, I KNOW! :(

I'm obsessing over the tracking, I have the order status open in one tab with my free printer and iPod touch one in another.
So far only those two have shipped, the iMac still hasn't...we can pull through this buddy, keep strong! :)

Thanks, and that is totally awesome, all I'm hoping is that there's no dead pixel or very very noticeable gradient or screen problem/bleeding.
BTW, I didn't order the Applecare yet, figured I could save some money for the time being and take advantage of the 1-year warranty Apple gives. Would it be possible to buy it later on, after 1 year has expired, or is it too late?

I'm sure you will enjoy your purchase! If you ever need any help, tips or advice you know where to come. ;)

:D

Congratulations on the purchase!!!

Thanks again!

I hope by cheap with a wink you meant on eBay or something because I paid for a lot of that stuff, and piracy makes me a sad panda.

Congratulations :)
Had my iMac for just under 2 weeks now and love it!
Its bought back the joy of computing for me, something that I lost using Vista/PC's. The 24" screen is stunning and the processing speed is amazing.

Let us know your first thoughts when you get it :)

Actually I got my programs from friends that have them already. :)

Congratulations :)

w00t!

I can't wait, I'll be sure to take pics as well. :D

The free iPod Touch came in today, but I decided to sell that since Apple's going to (as always) refresh the iPod line in September. Now I hope it ships before Monday, I'm freaking out! :D

My ipod touch is also arriving today. There's probably a bit of a back-order on the 3.06 GHz models-- on the apple store page for imacs, that's the only model that says "ships in 2-4 days," as opposed to 1-2. I'm expecting mine to be shipped out on Monday from China. Hopefully I'll have it by Wednesday next week :S

I can't believe it though.

2-4 days being the time it SHIPS from the Apple manufacturer, and not the time it takes to get to you.

I ordered mine Aug 5, Apple tells me it should ship by "7 Aug-11 Aug", so either today or Monday, 2-4 days. I also bit and paid $15 more for quicker shipping, 2-3 business days, Apple tells me I should get it sometime next week or next next Monday. :(

I can't wait! :D

I know I will, and I sure hope so, $2000+ is a lot to spend. ;)

And I just called Apple, got a nice surprise, faster shipping to Canada is 3-5 business days, and not 2-3 like Apple had on their site that I chose. :(

Yeah it's frustrating. I don't know what's stopping them from having a small cache of extra machines at all time to be able to send them out quickly in times of higher than normal demand. Or maybe there's a bottleneck with the 8800 GS's?

In any case, after checking my order status 6 times a day to see if the iMac had gone to "Prepared for shipping" yet, I've just resigned myself to the fact that it'll come when it comes. This computers gonna be my main machine for 4 -5 years, what's an extra few days of waiting? (or a week for that matter  )

edit: I just noticed we have the exact same orders.. High-end imac with the wireless mouse as "BTO" ( ) ordered on the 5th and being shipped to Canada.

Which videocard did you all get with you iMac ? I don't know if I should go for the 24", but if I do, should I really get the 3,06CPU and the 512 video memory ?

Thanks for your feedback on those two points.
