I was successful on the Mac, but a couple days ago I had been trying with the app too. It works in much the same way (the cart saves, etc.). If you view the cart, click the individual item, and click the "Cart" back button, it will refresh the cart and show the pick up option if it's available. The only thing I was less trusting of is if it was caching my inventory search results.

Thanks! In your opinion is it safer to go the computer route or iPhone?

I'd say computer. It gives you all the "In Stock" notices at once, rather than making you tap each location to check its stock, so it's faster if you have several choices near you.

i'm new to smart phone. i'm curious why 16gig is not enough for you? I'm just trying to figure out which one to get.

I have a ton of music, and I use the camera a lot, prefer not to have to offload photos all the time. I can manage 32, but 64 is overkill for me

I thought I was successful last night, but Apple screwed me. I found what I wanted in stock, put the order through for pick up the next day, and then everything fell apart. According to the customer service rep, apparently the phone sold before I my order finished processing. Not really a big deal. However, their system decided to go ahead and process the order as a shipment. Despite cancelling the order last night around 1AM after learning there was nothing they could do to correct this, I still have issues with:
-$209 still being held as pending on my credit card
-my upgrade option STILL has not been released from AT&T
-My AT&T account is STILL showing the $39 upgrade charge

So thanks to Apple, I missed out on the phone I found in stock at a local RadioShack today, and still don't know if I'll even be able to try again tonight for another phone via the instore pickup route. Although I still love the product, my faith in Apple as a company is sinking rapidly.
