I just found a paystub from one of the jobs I had in high school. $3.85 CDN an hour, minimum wage. Care to guess the decade? HINT: It's now up to $10/hr.

Last time I checked, it was $6.85 in Ontario. What is it now? I know it was $6.85 as recently as 2002, and it was actually raised to this level from way back in the mid-1990s. I guess they don't believe in raising minimum wage in Ontario.

Whoops, talking out of my butt again. I thught it had been raised to $10, but that was only while in debate. As it stands, it has just been raised 25¢ to $8 per hour by the same MPPs who just gave themselves a 25% raise.

Should have been the other way 'round, but then again, this isn't the political forum.

What I earn as a 24 year old waiter:

Monday to Friday: A$18.81 p/h
Saturday: A$22.57 p/h
Sunday: A$26.33 p/h
Public Holidays: A$37.63 p/h

I would expect to get these rates at any restaurant in the country.

Oregon has another bonus for low-wage workers. If you are a waiter or waitress, your minimum wage is the same as for other workers. You aren't paid even less and expected to make up the rest with tips, as it is done in most other states.
