Oregon Trail - Mac OS X 10.6.2 - Sound

I have a problem with sound working correctly on "The Oregon Trail" (5th Edition) on my iMac running Mac OS X 10.6.2. The lips on the characters move but about 50% of the words are never heard.

(As aside I already solved the font issue with getting the software to run on this version of MacOS X by downloading it and installing it. So one issue down, but now I have this sound issue.)

Anyone have this same problem? I tried searching The Learning Company's website and support.selectsoft.com seeking a solution to the problem but there was actually very little there and nothing on this problem.
