I switched from Tmobile to Att 3 months ago and I upgraded to the new 3G iphone.

What is the market/value of a original 8gb iPhone that had the version 1.1.1 operating system. Does this intial phone version offer anything that is more desirable than the currently available versions for using off the ATT network? It was used on Tmobile for over a year, and it is in good contion.

    thanks for any input.

    Nothing really special.

It used to be that AT&T would offer a Pay as You go plan if you failed the credit check. This allowed you to not be tied to a two year contract. That ended early in this year and so activating the original iPhone now requires a two year contract if activated on AT&T even if the phone is sold over and over.

Just like with any iPhone, it can be unlocked.

One nice thing with the original iPhone, if it is running 3.0, it can downgraded all the way to 1.0 since it started out running that. I downgraded my 3.0 original phone to 2.2.1 last night. I bought my 2G 8GB iPhone on Craigslist for $150 that still has six months Apple Care and all accesories.

Just like with any iPhone, it can be unlocked. This means you can use T-Mobile also. Still nothing special with the original iPhone.

    Doesn't increase it's value over a 3G or 3G S.

You should also downgrade to the correct iTunes that supported the firmware that you are downgrading to. I installed iTunes 7.5 to downgrade to 2.2.1. It downgraded with no problems.

This thread is being closed because it violates marketplace rules and also the basic question (of whether the iPhone has a higher value because it has 1.1.1 on it) has been answered.
