I have the original DigiDesign M-Box that I used long ago with a PC laptop.

Does anyone know if I can download the latest Pro Tools LE update and use the old M-Box with my new Intel iMac 3.06 GHz?

Thank you in advance.

The answer depends on how old the original mBox rig is. The first Intel mac compatible ProTools LE is 7.0 (I think) and it was free coming from 6.x. There was a subsequent update to 7.1.1. I used an original mBox on my Intel iMac before upgrading to an mBox 2 Pro. It will definitely work.

PTLE 7.4 is a paid upgrade and well worth the $$ (if memory serves me it was around $75).

If you've got the original key for PT, go to the DD website and check it out. The mBox is a dandy little interface with really nice mic pre-amps. If you don't want to use PTLE, the drivers for the mBox are a free download and then you can use Audacity ($free), Tracktion ($), Ardour $free), Live ($) and probably others.
