"Palmer," an original film that follows a former college football phenomenon who returns to his hometown after a stint in prison, is now available exclusively on Apple TV+.

Described as a story of "redemption, acceptance, and love, Palmer stars Justin Timberlake in its titular role.

Written by Cheryl Guerriero, "Palmer" follows a former college football phenomenon named Eddie Palmer (played by Timberlake) who, after a stint in prison, returns to his hometown to get his life back on track. Watching it right now and I don’t recommend this movie if you already feel like you are experiencing Covid D
depression. It is slow and a depressing downer this far

Thanks, that could be helpful info.
Would be interested to know if you have a different view after seeing the entire film.

Well, Ohana does mean family.

I watched the trailer, and while I can't say you're wrong on that. It did tug at my heart strings.

I spend my entire 23 yr career dealing with people like the main character in this film. Human sadness and suffering takes it's toll on you. Whether you experience it first hand or are a witness to it.

I'm going to watch this film. It looks pretty good. I expect to leave it feeling a little sad, a little depressed. That's OK.

Sometimes it makes more sense to feel those emotions than to feel good from watching a bunch of cartoon animals prance on the screen.

It's better to feel really ****** emotions than to feel nothing at all, or mask what your feeling with some sort of analgesic. Whatever is numbing it eventually wears off, and then you just feel worse.

Suffering is central to the human condition. So is overcoming adversity, acceptance, admitting mistakes, and atoning for bad decisions.

This is the impression I get from the trailer, which would make it good cinema IMHO.

On a side note, when I retire and don't have to take a drug test any more, I'm smoking a giant bag of weed. All. The. Time......

Great, I wonder how anyone will pay anything for this with this slow release schedule.
I don't think many are.

What's astonishing though, is that the movie is already ripped and on torrents/usenet.

How do they rip these movies from these streaming platforms so fast? Its like hours after release.

One would think Apple might try to do better at protecting the content.

Just because you have a beard, doesn't mean your dirty....

Having only watched the trailer I feel like the entire film will be Timberlake with a "I've been through some tough times and I'm in deep thought about it" look on his face.

I'll still probably check it out.

Hey, where are all the galaxy-brained commenters coming in to kvetch about how the use of “finds himself” undersells JT’s character’s role in taking care of the kid?

JT is a VERY underrated actor. Will check this out. Has a The Peanut Butter Falcon vibe to it which I really enjoyed.

Agreed. He's been steadily improving his acting skills at every movie.

I saw the trailer for this ... and honestly I cried ... the content of the movie moved me in just the preview. Had me rethinking a lot of ideals I had before.

I'm just getting into AppleTV+ with Mankind series and it's gripping! Beyond what I thought it would be.

A very heartwarming drama bringing out the worst and the best in the character with an astounding second chance theme 👌

I just wish that there was something on tv+ I want to watch. I cancelled my apple1 and went back to just Apple Music
