maybe i am not the smartest guy in the room but my understanding is the lower the generation the further the waves travel thats why you need to be under 5G tower for mmwave whatever it is called to work.

so , why not keep like 1G and 5 G signal. the 1G will reach the furthest points for emergencies and stuff and stay connected to civlization

How could you have? The first iPhone Verizon got was a CDMA version of the iPhone 4.

The CDMA iPhone 4 included tethering for the first time, a feature not available in ATT models.
