I have thinking about my Air that will be here in a couple of days, and wanted to get some input on using external harddrives.

Some (most) of us will run into limits from the 128 ssd and will keep various things on external drives that are not on the local machine. How do you guys normally go about backing up those files?

Do you use CarbonCopy and image the drive to yet another external?
Do you use Carbonite, Mozy, or another service that also allows external drives?
    Something else...?

I was thinking the CarbonCopyCloner, or manually backing up files from External 1 to External 2. But it seems like there might be a more elegant solution out there.

I use Carbon Copy Cloner for backing both internal and external drives. It does everything I need.

If you're working with limited on-board storage, one thing I've done is to split my iTunes library, keeping my favorite music on my internal drive so it's available when I'm mobile, with the remainder on externals.

How to split a single iTunes library over two or more media locations
