I'm happy that it is now official, "Star Wars" 4 DVD set due out September 21st. Cost for the set is expected to be about $70 like the "Indiana Jones," box set. It should work out well with sales from September till Christmas. It will spark the appetite for the release Of "Star Wars III" in early 2005.

Count me out. IMHO, over-hyped and booooring. A lame story held together with special effects and a brilliant (as usual) John Williams score. In fact, without the score it would have fallen in on itself.

I URGE EVERYONE TO BOYCOTT THIS ABOMINATION AND TO DEMAND STAR WARS IN ITS ORIGINAL FORM!!!

While you are certainly entitled to your opinion and to spend your money as you like I think you're being a little absurd here. I mean its just a movie. I mean I enjoyed the Star Wars movies, I think the Star Wars universe is interesting, but I don't think its as great as it has been made out to be over the years.

Seriously the movies have aquired an almost God-like reverence from the fans. While I don't think Episode I was great, I think with how idealized peoples visions of the original movies are, that no matter what GL did the die hard fans wouldn't have been happy. Why? Because they have spent all this time trying to figure out how they wanted it to be themselves, and no matter how he did it, he would probably be messing with peoples visions of the prequels anyway.

Just repeat to yourself, its JUST a movie.

remind me never to introduce you to my friend, she feels completely opposite, loves Star Wars, hates John Williams (I know, its terrible, how can you hate John Williams). Anyway I think if the two of you got together it would be like a matter/anti-matter reaction. Big explosion. No good.

I haven't heard anything about the price, so I'm curious where you heard $70 from. Also is $70 list price or street?

Lucas is greedy, simply put. You realize what he's going to do here of course - he's going to milk it for everything it's worth so he can get the maximum amount of profit from these sales.

First he releases the original Star Wars trilogy on VHS, then the THX edition, then the Special Edition, then Episode 1 on VHS, then Episode I on DVD, etc. etc. And now he's going to release Episode IV on DVD, then E5 and E6 separately, then all of them together, then the Speical Edition of all of them together, then just Episodes 1-3 in a box set, then all of them together, then Special Editions of the new ones, etc. etc. ad nauseum.

I like the movies, but Lucas is a greedy bastard. And the above is why I have never, and will never, buy an actual copy of a Star Wars movie.
