In contrast to Quake 1-3 and Duke Nukem 3D, Unreal never was released as open source, so there are no versions for newer operating systems.

As mentioned, DN3D does have an updated version, but I'm not sure if it's Catalina compatible.

OK, so I've found Quake and Quake II binaries that work on Catalina but cannot locate an Unreal (original) that will work for Catalina. Has anyone seen this?

It's probably too much to ask for Duke Nukem, I suppose? :)
To play the Campaign, multi-player arena, or both? :) As I recall, Unreal was the second big Arena combat game that appeared after Marathon on the Mac.

Bummer about Unreal. Probably no chance of it showing up as open source at this point, I suppose.

Thanks, for the link to Duke Nukem - now I just have to locate my CD for the data file.

Now with Unreal Engine 5 being announced, I would love to see someone recreate some of the original Unreal game level (where you wake up in the Vortex Riker’s prison ship, are terrified by your first Skaarj, and begin exploring the planet).

I can still hear the lights clicking off, and then it comes out of nowhere!!!

Well, this is a bummer. I downloaded Yamagi Quake 2 and after locating the runtime files in their proper places, the app launches just fine - except my screen is completely black. I can hear the audio and the keyboard seems to be working (i.e., CMD-Q quits, <RETURN> and <ESC> causes a sound), so it's something to do with the video. Any ideas what might be going on? Again, on Catalina.

And it looks like there's no Quake III for Catalina?
