Does anyone now a good reason other than to make me buy another watch, Why my Apple Watch Ultra cannot play music or podcasts on it's speakers like the Ultra 2?

Thanks, you are right. S8 vs S9 and it has double the memory. I still think it should be able to play podcast audio.

Not a feature I’d ever use to be honest, but I’m not sure why it’s not available.
