First things first. I'm not new to Mac, but have been away for quite a while, so I might as well be new. 😀

I have a school auction Mac (hand-me-down):
OS: 10.3.9
Machine Model iBook G4
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (3.3)
Number Of CPU: 1
CPU Speed: 933 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
Memory: 256 MB
Bus Speed: 133 MHz

-----------
Why am I bothering? Well, it still WORKS, it just has a facial tick or two (like Lore).

I don't have the install disks, so I can't restore. Unless there's a hidden restore image on here I don't know about?

The Time/Date/Battery/Volume menu bar blinks intermittently.

If I go into system prefs, the option to SHOW is unchecked and won't stay checked unless I choose the WINDOW option for the time, then it stays checked, and the Window works.

The SHOW volume control check won't stay visible, but is KIND OF there when I click it. Make sense?

I looked up this fix, but didn't think it really applied to me, and I didn't know how to unmount the AFP item it talked about. But I did make sure my International language was English (oooo).

I found this fix, but have no way to implement it. I did download Applejack and run the system through a DEEP CLEAN (so fresh and clean).

I've created a new admin user profile and deleted the old one, I've removed all the old SYSTEM 1,2 3 / Preferences 1,2,3 etc.. I removed and reinstalled STUFFIT as one fellow did.

So far, I haven't solved my initial problem. Too much info?

Any help appreciated. I like older puters, no reason to throw the thing out. I could always install Linux on it I suppose. 😛

Thanks! 😎
