Hello !
After some reading on this forum ( and others) , i still having some questions about my quest :confused:...
I have an oldie G3-dv 400 Mghz, HD (external) 120 Go, 512 RAM and i am looking now for a 10.4 tiger dvd ( the black one) . When i called Apple, they told me my G3 can not run with 10.4, 10.3 is the max i can have . But i know some people run with Tiger on their upgraded G3 without any trouble ( low but works) .
So, I find one 10.4 dv on ..bay BUT the instalation requirements are :
Apple computer with INTEL, G5 or G4 (PPC) processor, and 512 MB RAM Memory : ( ...)
* Apple with G4 processor :
1. XServe
2. Mac Mini
3. Macintosh Server
4. iMac
5. Power Mac
6. PowerBook
7. iBook

I have the RAM required but not the processor :(...
Do you think it will work anyway ? Or no hope to get Tiger for G3 :(:(:(...

Thank you for reading and for your help !

Tiger requires

To use Mac OS X v10.4, your Macintosh needs:

* A PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor
* Built-in FireWire
* At least 256 MB of RAM
* DVD drive (DVD-ROM), Combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) or SuperDrive (DVD-R) for installation
* At least 3 GB of free disk space; 4 GB if you install the XCode 2 Developer Tools
My 400mhz g4 runs tiger.
You posted the requirements for leopard.
You may not have a fast enough processor or a firewire port.

Thank you AppleCode :apple:

One more thing :) :

* Mi iMac have a built-in fire wire (400) , DVD-ROM and 120 Go HD ( external) so , prima facie,he can run Tiger, isn't ?

*Do you mean the seller made a mystake about Tiger dv requirements and print leopard requirements instead tiger ? Anyway, i will not buy it.

*Any other Tiger retail dv ( black), if i can find one, will be fine ?

my g3 imac runs tiger just fine it is 400mhz/256k slot loading. also had it on a g3 powerbook pismo 500mhz/512k and i have tiger on my g4 titanium powerbook 400mhz/512 and on all three tiger runs great.

Thank you G4powerbookboy :)
We have the same kind of G3 i guess.
So the clue is now find a Tiger .
