I'm kind of enjoying this thread.

Everyone will have to pay!
Nope.
Ok, but first-gen phones willl have to pay!
Nope.
Yeah, well iPods will have to pay!
Yes, but we always knew that

A prime example of how this forum has gone down the tubes, unfortunately. People have been bellyaching about these features for years. Now it's on the way, and most won't even have to upgrade their hardware (and the ones that do still get some improvement), but people still make something up to complain about.

I think some people here are paid by (microsoft/rim etc) because they are never satisfied no matter what

You should thank your lucky stars Apple was forced to take this update from the 2012 storage bin and bring it out now.

You really need to stop this trolling. You HONESTLY beleive apple hadn't even started working on 3.0 until your precious pre was announced? Please.

Is it comfy in your alternate reality?

You miss my point.

I KNOW Apple had this features like copy paste, etc already there. Hell they had it since 2007. But in order to delight Apple fanboys they broke it into pieces and doles it out like rations in a starving country over years.

If it wasn't for competition you would be getting 2.3 right now, and 3.0 would come by 2012 sometime before Mir crashes back to earth.

Really? It seems to me that apple has made a ritual of showing off the new OS at this point every year.

What proof do you have that this wasnt coming in 3.0 anyway?

Besides idle speculation please.

I'm thinking that the fact that you ignore the people who refute your arguments means you're not really here for any other reason but to be a troll.

Am I warm?

Spot on. To be honest I couldn't give a toss, I was just a bit bored and fancied seeing what sort of discussion I could invoke.

I don't even have an iPhone.

Yeah I think the new app store within an app is sickening.

The keynote shows someone purchasing a rocket launcher for $.99...

You buy a game for $1.00... buy 10 weapons, you are up to $11. Buy some level packs a few more $. Before you know it. That $1 game has cost you $50.

i dont think the feature buying within apps will be as crazy as we think it could be. Sims users love buying little expansion packs, so that will work out well.

How often do other Phone companys continue to add software updates through out the year (google streetview, safari updates, little user enhancements?)

Even if at worst you pay 9.99 for this update, thats very little concidering what your getting. For blackberrys to get some new software features in a phone, you would need to buy an entire new phone!

This will be great, for example, for language packs or city guides. Instead of having an app for each language and each city, within the app you can buy the ones you want, and have one app on your springboard instead of several.

I'm not saying its not without uses, but I just don't want to be nickel and dimed constantly. If I buy software, I want it to be the full thing. Not 100 more features, just $10... next week, 200 more features, $20.

It has the potential for good uses and bad, like everything.

i agree with you op. all those little .99$ charges are not very appealing. especially if its just for a rocket launcher in a game.

EXACTLY! I was like wtf? A rocket launcher for 99 cents in an FPS? Oh please! Even in PC FPS we never pay for weapons. Ngmoco is getting ridiculous.

Developers will now get so much money.

And that game is going to get horrifically low ratings.

Its up to the dev to decide how they price, most likely they will stick to doing that for updates only.

Of course. But there are developers who already abuse the current system, charging for 10 different quick dialer apps (one for mom, one for girlfriend, one for best friend...).

For the second time. It is free to first generation iPhone owners. Free. No payment required.

Look. It's a 1G iPhone on the right. With big FREE text next to it.

Good Point! Everyone LOVES FREE! ;)

The bluetooth and mms are two things I couldn't care less about and wouldn't use anyway so no big deal to me
