OS 3.1 breaking the tethering hack?

I have no idea how everything is tied together so pardon what may be a stupid question, but here goes..

Will Apple be able to disable/break/plug the hole/etc the tether hack when 3.1 is released?

Even if it "breaks" it im sure you could just reinstall the profile. I dont think it does though.
